News: Embedded Search

by JohnOfJordan on December 4, 2008

YouTube Embedded SearchYouTube have launched an array of changes in the last 48 hours.

One thing you may have noticed is that by default embedded videos now feature a YouTube search bar at the top of them. If this is not to your liking, relax – it’s easily overcome.

LifeHacker explains:

YouTube recently added, without warning, a top-aligned search bar to pretty much every embedded video across the net. Want to turn them off on your own embeds? Add &showsearch=0 in the embed code.

You add this code to the EMBED SRC section as demonstrated below.

Example:

<object width=”480″ height=”385″><param name=”movie” value=”http://www.youtube.com/v/DsR1Z_coX_8&hl=en&fs=1&rel=0″></param><param name=”allowFullScreen” value=”true”></param><param name=”allowscriptaccess” value=”always”></param><embed src=”http://www.youtube.com/v/DsR1Z_coX_8&hl=en&fs=1&rel=0&showsearch=0” type=”application/x-shockwave-flash” allowscriptaccess=”always” allowfullscreen=”true” width=”480″ height=”385″></embed></object>
