News: Widescreen YouTube

by JohnOfJordan on November 26, 2008

It’s YouTube – but not as we know it…

No, it wasn’t lost on us either. YouTube is now wider. This is wonderful if you’re watching a YouTube video that is naturally widescreen (such as this parody of Baz Lurhman’s Australia), though it doesn’t do much for your 4:3 video watching experience.

At any rate a new ‘feature’ to play with. What has your widescreen YouTube experience been like thus far?

Incidentally the video in the image is taken from Hitler – Internet Censorship Australia. It takes footage from a film about Adolf Hitler and superimposes ideas and themes relating to the ‘Clean Feed‘ (the Australian government’s plan for internet censorship). Taking this same footage of Hitler in crisis and superimposing different narratives is surprisingly common – as Virginia Heffernan at The New York Times Magazine noted.
